Uniform Policy

OUR MISSION

Students are required to wear the official school uniform when at school or when they are representing the school in activities outside of school.

School uniform items are available from the school uniform shop which is open Sunday-Thursday until 3.30pm and on Saturday until 1.00pm. Uniforms can also be purchased online via the Parent Portal.

In addition to the uniform requirements:

● Plain all-black flat leather shoes

● Boys are allowed to wear a plain black belt

● Socks must be black, navy blue, grey or white

● Trousers must be neatly hemmed

● Blue bucket hat, sold online and at the uniform store, must be worn daily (FSI AND FS2 ONLY)

● A plain navy-blue scarf is acceptable during the winter months

● Girls who wear the hijab must wear a white one

● No visible T-shirts

● Students should not wear make-up or nail varnish

● Jewellery must be limited to a watch and girls may wear one small pair of stud earrings

● Facial piercing is not permitted

● Boys must be clean-shaven

● Hair for boys and girls should be neatly groomed and of natural colour. Boys  hair should not fall below the collar

● Hairbands should be white or navy blue or match natural hair colour

● School uniform items should be clearly labelled with the student s name

● No smart watches allowed

If you fail to comply with these expectations, you will be given the opportunity to change into your uniform items delivered/purchased and changing at school. You may not be allowed to attend class if not in full uniform.

All medical conditions requiring a student to wear special items (including footwear) must be explained by a doctor s medical note to be verified by the school doctor.

MES Cairo House Polo Shirt

You must purchase an MES Cairo House polo shirt. You will wear this with PE shorts/pants, for house events. Alternatives to the House polo shirt are not permitted.

Non-Uniform Days

Non-uniform days will be coordinated during the school year. You must dress according to the following regulations:

● No denim of any kind (jeans, skirts, jackets, etc.)

● No clothing with offensive logos or wording

● No excessive jewellery (the usual uniform code remains in place for jewellery)

● Dress conservatively   avoid short skirts, shorts, tops that show midriffs, and sleeveless shirts.

Physical Education Boys and girls wear the same PE uniforms. FS1: Class coloured polo and navy blue shorts FS2-Y6: Yellow and white PE shirt and navy blue shorts worn for the day. G/Y7-G/Y/DP 12 Royal blue & white PE shirt, worn with the PE tracksuit pants. Students can change into shorts during PE lesson.
